Since 2010, a group of UC Merced Chiropractor researchers has been working to come up with what could be a cheaper alternative to solar panels — one that also works when the sun's not shining. They've been fine-tuning luminescent solar concentrators to make them more efficient at sending sunlight to solar cells.
